'Wild Dog Play Time'
This painting is based on a very entertaining evening we spent watching four young adult African wild dogs playing with each other. Having pulled to pieces a tsetse trap they then started playing 'tug of war' with pieces of the trap. Various dogs also picked up sections of the trap and had other dogs chasing after them to try and retrieve the strips of cloth as though they were some valuable piece of food! Two of the dogs that were very intent on chasing each other were actually chasing each other in a large loop around our car. After a few circuits like that, the following dog decided the best way to catch the other was to take the shortcut under our 4WD! This resulted in us being able to experience the slightly alarming view of a wild dog charging at full tilt directly towards us...
