Polo PaintingsAlthough Katy is best known for her horse racing paintings she also loves watching and painting polo.
Painting subjects include polo players in action, individual portraits of the ponies, unsaddling and changing horses between chukkas and the ponies tied up during rest periods. Paintings on this page include scenes based on polo matches at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club at Winkfield near Windsor and also Guards Polo Club which has the Windsor Great Park as a backdrop. Both clubs provide glorious venues to watch polo and the majestic mature trees around the grounds provide a great opportunity to view the polo ponies at rest between chukkas under the dappled light from the trees. If you're interested in the rules of polo a brief summary is available on Ascot Park Polo Club's website, more detail is available via the Hurlingham Polo Association. HPA is the governing body for polo in the UK. |
