About KatyEquestrian artist Katy Sodeau specialises in watercolour paintings of horse racing scenes and other equine sports. She became interested in equestrian art whilst living near Newmarket, the headquarters of British horse racing, where she saw strings of race horses travelling to the gallops each day. Katy has been working as a professional artist since 1995 she loves painting horses and all other animals including African wildlife. Katy's painting skills are mainly self taught, she originally trained and worked in architecture and still enjoys painting architectural subjects and village scenes in and around East Anglia. | |

Equestrian Artist at Work!"Finishing the Race" is an example of equestrian art in action. The painting shows the artist putting the final touches to a horse racing painting. Both the horses and the artist's arm are part of the painting, the apparent edges of the watercolour paper are also part of the painting in a tromp l'oeil effect.
